Directions for posting the early feedback questionnaire to QMPlus:
(0) You can import either this file or the one labeled early_feedback_modified into QMPlus.
(1) On the QMPlus page, click "Add an activity or resource" in the section that you want to add the questionnaire. From the list of activities/resources, choose the "Feedback" activity.
(2) This opens the page for creating the Feedback activity. In particular, under "Question and Submission Settings", you probably want to make sure that "Record user names" is set "Anonymous" and that "Allow multiple submissions" is set to "No".
(3) After you have created the activity, open it up and go to the "Templates" tab. At the bottom of that tab, click the link that says "Import Questions". Choose one of the .xml files to import, and you’re done!

Skills Points System |
All full-time PhD students at Queen Mary are expected to take part in two weeks of transferable skills training activities per academic year (part-time students should complete a pro-rata rate of training as appropriate). Suggested activities include attending and presenting at conferences, participating in or helping to organise journal clubs, writing groups and seminar series, and attending training courses or workshops. Selection of appropriate activities and courses should form part of your relationship with your supervisor. The training and development activities you take part in should be recorded using the Skills Points System.
See the files in the folder below for useful information on how to use the Skills Points System |
|
PhD leave |
- For full-time PhD students the annual holiday entitlement is 30 working
days plus the eight UK public holidays and the four QMUL closure days. Holiday
entitlement is pro-rata for part-time students and for parts of a year.
- PhD students should agree their holiday periods with their primary
supervisor and note this in the Supervisor Log on MySIS. PhD leave cannot be
approved on MyHR so should not be requested through this system.
- PhD students should also log absences other than annual leave (e.g.
attendance at conferences, research visits, etc) on the Supervision Log, after
agreeing these with their supervisor.
|
|
PhD funding for travel/conferences |
- If
you require funding for travel/conference please speak directly to your Head of
Group or PI to request approval for funding and agree the amount BEFORE
submitting any claims to the SMS office. You may wish to do this via email so
you have a record of what has been agreed.
- If
you pay your for your own travel expenses, you should then reclaim this using
an expense claim form (excel claim form / PDF claim form) which you will need to
have signed by your HoG / PI before handing into the SMS office along with
original receipts.
- If
you would prefer to have your travel booked and paid for directly by the
School, please obtain your HoG /PIs approval in writing (via email) first detailing
the amount approved and the budget code, after which you can forward this to
Paul along with full details of booking requirements. Paul can then assist with
booking your travel/accommodation/conference fees.
- Please
do not submit one of the old “absence on college business” forms as these are
no longer in use.
