The first step in becoming an official student of the University is to complete online enrolment. This is where you provide us with your academic and personal information and upload a photo for your student ID card.
For September 2021, all student enrolments will be completed online in absentia and you won't have to attend campus in order to become fully enrolled. The enrolment process is split into four (4) stages and is shown below
Stage 1: You will receive an email from your Admissions Team inviting you to complete Online Enrolment in the QMUL student record system MySIS.
Stage 2: Online Enrolment: You should complete the Online Enrolment task in MySIS. This is where you provide us with some information about yourself and upload a photo for your student ID card.
Stage 3: Queen Mary Enrolment: Academic Registry will carry out checks on the information that you have provided to us via the Online Enrolment task and will either fully or temporarily enrol you.
Stage 4: Student ID Card Collection
Student ID card Collection - Wednesday 23rd September 2021, 9:00 to 9:45 BST (9am to 9:45am BST).
Drop-in Card Collection Sessions
You may be invited to attend a drop-in session to collect your card or, if you are unable to attend your allocated timeslot, you can collect it during the times below - no appointment necessary.
Drop-ins are in The Octagon, Queens' Building, Mile End Campus (building 19 on the map) during the following times:
- Friday 24 September: 10:00 - 17:00
- Monday 27 September: 12:00 - 17:00
- Tuesday 28 - Friday 1 October: 10:00 - 17:00
Card Collection after 1 October
If you are arriving after Friday 1 October or you have been unable to collect your card during a drop-in session listed above, you can still collect your ID card from campus. Details are below:
Please do not try and collect your ID card from SEC or the RDO until after 1 October as you will be directed to the drop-in sessions in the Octagon.
Please note that for security reasons we do not post ID cards.
Information about your Enrolment
Please see the tabs below for more detailed information
about each stage of enrolment and what you need to do to become a fully
enrolled Queen Mary student!
The Enrolment Timeline
The Enrolment process will start for you once your place at
Queen Mary has been confirmed and you have been invited to complete Online
Enrolment. Please see our ‘Enrolment Timeline’ for guidance on when you should expect
the enrolment process to begin and when you will have access to your IT account
details.
When will I be invited to complete Online Enrolment? (Stage
1)
You will be sent an email from the Admissions Team
confirming your place on your programme and inviting you to complete Online
Enrolment in MySIS (the student record system), along with your MySIS login
details. You can start Online Enrolment as soon as you have received this
email - the subject line is 'Online enrolment now available!'.
These emails are not sent out to all new starters at the
same time so please do not be concerned if you have not received your
invite but know of others who have (and vice versa). You can start Online
Enrolment as soon as you have received the invitation and have access to
the task in MySIS. For students starting in August/September 2021, we
expect that these emails will be sent out by 6th September
2021.
This email is only sent to students who have accepted their
offer and met all the conditions of that offer. It will be
sent to the personal email address you provided during the application process.
If you have less than 2 weeks before your programme start
date and you haven't received an invitation to complete Online Enrolment
(remember to check your junk folder!), or if you cannot access MySIS,
please contact the relevant Admissions Office.
Please note that Admissions cannot help you with completing
your enrolment so please only contact them if you have not
received your email inviting you to complete Online Enrolment:
Please remember to include your student ID number in
any correspondence!
What is Online Enrolment and how do I complete it? (Stage 2)
Online Enrolment is a task that you are required to complete
via your MySIS account. You will only have access to the Online Enrolment task
after the Admissions Team have emailed you to confirm your place and
invited you to complete the task.
You will be asked to confirm with us your academic and
personal information, upload a photo for your student ID card, provide us with
a copy of your official identification and tell us how you will be paying your
tuition fees.
Documents required for Online Enrolment: As part
of Online Enrolment you will need to upload documents that confirm your
identity and/or nationality. Students from the School of Medicine and Dentistry
may be required to provide additional information relating to a health
questionnaire, DBS check and/or EPP clearance.
You will receive an email to confirm that you have completed
the Online Enrolment task successfully. The email subject line is ‘Thank you
for completing Online Enrolment’.
After completing Online Enrolment you will also receive
an email from the Fees Office with guidance on how to pay your tuition fees.
The email subject line is ‘Tuition Fees - Funding Option’. Depending on how you
will be paying your fees, you may also receive an invoice from the fees
office within a few days.
Please read these emails carefully and note that you will
not be fully enrolled until you have paid your fees, or
made provision to pay your fees (e.g. set up a payment plan, provided
proof of sponsorship) with the Fees Office.
Once you have successfully completed Online Enrolment, the
next stage of your enrolment is Queen Mary Enrolment. Please note – you are not
a fully enrolled student yet.
Helpful tips:
- Once
you have access to MySIS, you’ll see that Online Enrolment is available
via the 'My Enrolment' option on the menu along the top of the page.
- You
will need to upload a photo of yourself under 'Photo Upload' and a photo
of your identification (e.g. passport) under 'ID Upload'.
- If
your telephone number is not being accepted, ensure you have selected the
correct country code and your number is in a valid format.
- Your
progress will be saved and you can revisit the task at any time to amend
information until you submit the Declaration. Submission of the
Declaration is the final step and completes the task.
If you have access to the Online Enrolment task but need
some help, please see
our FAQs or if your query has not been answered then contact your Enrolment
team:
Please remember to include your student ID number in
any correspondence!
What is Queen Mary Enrolment? (Stage 3)
Once you have completed Online Enrolment in MySIS, Academic
Registry will start Queen Mary Enrolment. This is where checks are carried out
on the information and documents that you have submitted and we check the
information we have about your tuition fees. We expect Queen Mary Enrolment to
start in early September.
There are two outcomes to Queen Mary Enrolment:
- Full
Enrolment: If you have provided all necessary information and documents and we have been able
to confirm you have paid or made provision to pay your fees we will fully
enrol you.
- Temporary
Enrolment: If we require clarification on any of the information
or documents you have supplied or you have not paid/made provision to pay
your fees with the Fees Office, we may temporarily enrol you and email you
to advise what we need from you. Guidance on how to resolve your temporary enrolment is
available. If you have arranged your fee payment but Online Enrolment and
Queen Mary Enrolment have been completed on the same day we may also
temporarily enrol you whilst we confirm your fee status.
Please check your email regularly for confirmation of your
enrolment status. We will always send an email to the personal email address
you have given us to confirm what your enrolment status is and the email
subject line is ‘Enrolment at QMUL’.
You can also check your enrolment status within the ‘My
Details’ section of your MySIS account.
Whether you are fully or temporarily enrolled, you will be
able to collect your student ID card and will receive access to other services.
Visit our webpage to find out what you will have access to once Queen Mary enrolment is
complete.
Student ID Card Collection (Stage 4)
Once you are fully or temporary enrolled, you will be able
to collect your ID card. Please see our ID
card collection webpage for the latest guidance on where and when you
can collect your card.
Immigration Permission to Enrol – Visa’s
The UK Government requires us to check that you have
immigration permission or a status that allows you to undertake your studies in
the UK. Our 'Immigration Permission to Enrol' webpage explains what
you will need to show us to prove that you have immigration permission or a
status that allows you to undertake your studies in the UK.
The information on this page does not apply to:
- British
and Irish citizens;
- European
Economic Area (EEA) citizens who have arrived in the UK before 01 January
2021.
Resolving Temporary Enrolment
If you have been temporarily enrolled, this may mean that
- we
are missing some information from you,
- the
information you have provided to us was not sufficient,
- you
have not paid or made provision to pay your tuition fees,
- we
are processing your payment/payment information, or
- you
are a medical student and you haven't completed all of the health checks
required
Please be advised that there is a deadline for you to
resolve your temporary enrolment and become fully enrolled. You will receive an
email confirming your temporary enrolment status, a deadline to complete your
temporary enrolment and instructions on what you need to do.
Please see our guidance page for an overview of the reasons for temporary enrolment and how you can resolve it.
Once your temporary enrolment has been resolved and you have
been fully enrolled, you will receive an email to confirm this and the subject
line is 'Enrolment at QMUL'. You can also check your enrolment status within
the ‘My Details’ section of your MySIS account.
Enrolment and Temporary Enrolment Deadlines
You must complete your enrolment by a given deadline.
The enrolment and temporary enrolment deadlines are
published online. If you have been temporarily enrolled, you will be given a
deadline in order to give you some time to resolve your temporary enrolment.
What will I have access to when Queen Mary Enrolment is
complete?
Once you are fully or temporary enrolled, you will be able
to access certain Queen Mary facilities and services, as well as being able to
collect your student ID card. Please see our webpage for guidance on what you will have access to once Queen Mary Enrolment is
complete.

see our guidance for you on our Distance Learning Enrolment webpages.
Please note that if you are not on a specific Distance
Learning programme (i.e. you would normally be campus-based), then the Distance
Learning enrolment pages do not apply to you.
