Introduction [edit]

This video assignment uses two systems together:

  • QMplus Assignment – this is where you submit your work
  • EchoVideo (Q‑Review)– this is where your video is created, uploaded, and stored

Both parts are needed for your submission to work correctly. You will first prepare your video in EchoVideo (Q-Review), then submit it through the QMplus Assignment link.

You can:

  • Choose an existing video from your personal library.
  • Upload content during the submission process.
  • Create a new video using the EchoVideo recording tools.

What to expect when submitting a video

The steps below describe the process for most video assignments. However, some settings may vary depending on your school or department. For example, some assignments may allow draft submissions, while others may not.

You should receive guidance from your module team. If anything is unclear, please contact them for confirmation.

Step 1: Open the assignment

Go to the relevant QMplus module page and select the assignment link.

Step 2: Start your submission

You will see the Submission status screen.
Select Add submission when you are ready.

Step 3:Open the media embedding tool

You will now see the submission page with a text box.

In the toolbar above the text box, select the E icon.
This opens the tool used to add or embed your video.

The add submission screen with the e icon in the tool bar selected.

Step 4: Choose how to add your video

A window titled Embed media will appear. You will see three options:

Option A: Choose existing content (recommended)

Select a video that you have already uploaded to your Q‑Review media library.
This is recommended because it allows you to check the video has processed correctly before submitting.

A step‑by‑step guide is available here:Creating, Uploading and Editing Media | MyQMUL

Where possible, we recommend Option A, as uploading and processing your video in advance usually gives the smoothest experience.

Choose the option that works best for you.

The embed screen with options to choose content from library, create content or upload content.

Select your video

If you choose Option A, your media library will open.

  • Use the search box or filters to find your video
  • Select the video (it will appear ticked)
  • Choose Next

Option B: Create content: Recording a Video with EchoVideo (Q-Review)

You can use EchoVideo (Q-Review) to record a video for your submission.

Important

  • This is a two-step process.
  • Recording a video does not automatically add it to your submission.
  • After recording, you must choose the video as existing content and select it.

Tips for Video Assignments (Students)

Before starting your video assignment, make sure you understand how you are expected to submit your video.

  • Check your assignment instructions carefully in QMplus
  • Make sure you know where and how to submit your video
  • If this is not clear, ask your module organiser or teaching team as early as possible

Video titles and naming

Your teaching team may ask you to use a specific naming format for your video.

  • Check whether you have been given instructions on how to title your video
  • If no guidance is provided, ask what naming format you should use before submitting

Using a clear and consistent title helps staff find and mark your work.

Example naming format (if requested by your module):

ModuleCode_AssignmentNumber_AssignmentTitle_StudentID

Example:

ENG201_Assignment2_Presentation_123456789

Important reminders

  • Uploading and processing large video files can take time
  • Uploads are often faster when working on campus
  • Video assignments should not be left until the last minute

If you are unsure

If at any point you are unsure about:

  • How to submit your video
  • How to title or name your video
  • When to upload your video

👉 Ask for clarification early. This will help you avoid problems close to the deadline.

Contact your module team or local school technologist for advice.
