Comment on research ideas and questions

Some preliminary comments on the research ideas and questions outlined.  The research topics and questions posted are interesting and warrant investigation.   People who have posted have identified a range of questions that could be asked in relation to their research idea.  The ideas and questions are good places to start.   I’ve got a couple of suggestions for developing the outline projects further and getting involved in helping develop each other's ideas.

One is that you might find it useful  to group the questions you’ve come up with, and see if they fall under broad headings.  This will help you to see if there are things that on reflection you would add or remove.  This will give you an idea of the areas you will find out about and help to look critically at your fledgling projects.

Another suggestion is to identify one aspect of the research question to explore in more depth, aiming to gain the interviewee’s personal perspective.   You would explore such issues via open questions.    If you’ve already included open questions look at one of them again and think about how an interviewee may respond.    Might you need to review how you ask the question?    Even if your project will be a survey you could add some open questions.

This process of going backwards and forwards is part of the research process, as is peer review.   Its good too to comment on each other’s research ideas.   Research always involves peer review.  As a peer, reviewing someone’s research outline, can you identify questions that you think would be particularly useful to look at?  Are there things that you feel would add to the eventual findings that haven’t been included?
