Answer one of the following questions. Essays should be no longer than 2000 words (+/- 10% - footnotes and quotations included, bibliography excluded) and must be submitted via QMplus by 1pm (CET) on 12th April 2024:
"Cities are key players in the international climate debate." Discuss with reference to their responsibility in and vulnerability to the climate crisis, and their particular role in the UN climate negotiations process.
"Green gentrification is the price to pay to secure a low-carbon urban future." Do you agree with this statement? Justify your answer with reference to Paris or a city of your choice.
Examine the role of "science" within the evolving geopolitical landscape of the Arctic in the context of the era of climate change. In the course of this discussion, critically assess the nature of science as a non-state actor, considering the extent to which it operates as such within the contemporary epoch.
Compose a letter directed either to the Arctic Council in its entirety or to a specific representative actively involved with the Council. In the letter, analytically highlight and provide advice on areas that the Council may have neglected, overlooked or insufficiently addressed, drawing from your readings and considering the political dynamics prevailing in the region.
