PhD Students
Section outline
-
We encourage PhD students in particular to gain experience in public engagement and science communication activities. This constitutes part of your educational training and is a growing expectation of the role of a (publicly-funded) researcher and therefore counts towards the QMUL Skills Points system. Nonetheless, to recognise this work the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences is willing to offer up to 10 hours of demonstrator-rate pay towards either the delivery of existing public engagement activities or towards developing your own public engagement project, though these must be discussed and agreed upon with the Outreach and Widening Participation Officer beforehand.
-
Outreach and Public Engagement development / activity can count towards PhD training through the Skills Points system in Domain D (Engagement, influence and impact) for 1 point per hour, up to a maximum of 60 points total.
