Overview [edit]

You can add a Padlet board to your QMplus module by using Padlet’s embed code. This guide will show you how to embed it either as a Text and Media activity or as a Page, and how to adjust permission settings.

Get the Padlet Embed Code [edit]

Click on the ‘Share’ icon on the action bar to access the settings.

On the Share panel select ‘Embed in your blog or your website’.

Click “Copy board embed code” on the “Embed board” to copy the code to the clipboard.

Add the Padlet Board to Your QMplus Module [edit]

In the module to which you want to add the Padlet, find the relevant topic area, click on ‘Add an activity or resource’, then select ‘Page’ or “Text and Media” from the activity picker.

Option A: Embed Padlet Using "Text and Media"

If you choose “Text and media area”. You need first enter the title of your activity, and click “Tools” and in the “Text” box, then select “source code” option.

Click “Save” button at the bottom right-hand side.

Once you done all of this, you will find the Padlet can be viewed properly on QMplus.

Scroll down to the bottom, click “Save and Return to course” button.

Option B: Embed Padlet Using a “Page” Activity

Show the Padlet directly on the module homepage
  1. Choose Page from the activity picker. To embed Padlet as “Page” activity, you need enter the name of this activity under “General”.
  2. Go to “Description”, choose “Source Code”, paste your code there to display the Padlet under “General”. You must tick the box “Display description on course page”.
  3. In the Content section, enter any text (QMplus requires this to save).

If you want the Padlet embed into the activity, which only allows student to click the activity to open a new window to see the Board. You will need to go to “Content” box, find “Tools”, then choose “Source Code” to add the code.

Then paste your code into the pop-up windows. Click “Save”.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click “save and display”.

Then on QMplus module homepage, you’ll only see the Page activity link.

Students must click it to view the Padlet inside the activity. Click this and it will take you to Padlet itself.

Using “Preview Embed” (Smaller Version) [edit]

If you think the board is too big to show in QMplus, you can embed the preview not the whole board. See example below:

To do this, you need go to “Share”, select Embed in your blog or website” again. Then click “Copy preview embed code” under the “Embed preview.

Follow the same steps as above to embed it. Then you will see the preview version of Padlet on QMplus, it’s a smaller displayed version of Padlet. Clicking it will open the full board.

Tips: Permission Settings [edit]

If students see a message such as “This padlet is not publicly viewable”, your Padlet’s sharing settings need adjusting.

To make sure your Padlet can be viewed on QMplus, you need to set up properly for the permission settings. Go to “Share” button, under “Permission” tab

  1. Visitor with a link: set to Reader or higher (Commenter, Writer)
  2. Ensure QMUL members also have at least Reader access.
  3. Require visitors to log in: Off (allows access directly from QMplus)
  4. Publish to profile and web: Off

Go to “Share” button, under “Permission” tab

Once these are set, the Padlet should display properly on QMplus.
