Scheduled Room Recordings with EchoVideo (Q-Review) [edit]

If you would like to record an event in a teaching space, you will need to ensure that the room is equipped for EchoVideo (Q-Review) and that the recording is scheduled in advance.

Before the Recording

  1. Check that the room you plan to use is EchoVideo (Q-Review) enabled and available.
  2. Book the room through the Timetabling Team at timetabling@qmul.ac.uk.
  3. Contact Q-Review Bookings at qreviewbookings@qmul.ac.uk to schedule the recording.

When requesting a recording, please provide:

  • The location, date and time of the event.
  • The recording start time and duration (allow extra time for early starts or overruns where appropriate).
  • Whether the recording is a one-off event or a recurring series.
  • The module name, if applicable.
  • The names of any staff who require editing access to the recording.

Presenter Consent

If your session includes a guest presenter who is not a QMUL staff member, you must obtain their permission before recording.

  1. QMplus Media Video Consent Form [PDF 221KB]
  2. QMplus Media FMD Video Consent Form [PDF 90KB]
  3. Q-Review consent form for non standard recordings V2 [DOC 199KB]

The guest presenter must complete the EchoVideo (Q-Review) consent form, which should be returned to qreviewbookings@qmul.ac.uk before the recording can be released.

During the Recording

Once the recording has been scheduled, no further setup is normally required.

For the best audio quality:

  • Wear a lapel microphone whenever possible.
  • Avoid moving too far away from the lectern or room microphones, as this may affect audio quality.

By default, EchoVideo (Q-Review) captures:

  • Audio
  • Presenter video
  • Content displayed through the room projector

If the room has multiple projectors, check the podium control panel to identify which projector is linked to EchoVideo (Q-Review). If you are unsure, display your content on both projectors.

After the Recording

Once the scheduled recording has finished, the capture is processed automatically. Processing usually takes approximately the same length of time as the recording itself.

When processing is complete, the lead presenter will receive an automated email confirming that the recording is available in EchoVideo (Q-Review).

You can then:

  • View the recording.
  • Edit the recording if required.
  • Embed the recording into your QMplus course.
  • Choose whether or not to make the recording available to students.
