Undergraduate Students
Hello, and a very warm welcome to the School of the Arts!
This email provides important information about enrolment, the School of the Arts Welcome Week schedule, and other key information. Please read it carefully.
Enrolment
Enrolment is an online process where you officially register as a student at Queen Mary. Once enrolled, you will be eligible for a Student ID card and official Queen Mary documentation.
Enrolment takes place in two stages:
1. Pre-Enrolment: This is an online task where you provide information about yourself and upload proof of identity (eg. passport) and a photo for your student ID card. If you require immigration permission to study in the UK, you must also upload evidence that you have this permission. You should have been sent an email in August to invite you to Pre-Enrol and guidance on how to access MySIS (our student record system) to complete the task, so please check your emails carefully if you have not already completed this step.
2. Queen Mary Enrolment: This is when the information and documents you have provided are checked before you are granted full or temporary enrolment. Please note - if you have not provided sufficient ID or evidenced your immigration permission (if applicable) then your enrolment will not progress, you will then be contacted to request you upload the necessary documentation.

ID Card Collection
Once you have full or temporary enrolment, you will be eligible to make an appointment to collect your Student ID Card on MySIS.
You’ll be able to pick up you ID card from one of the following AskQM hubs on the Mile End Campus:
- iQ East Court, Mile End: Appointments available from Monday 1st September
- Mile End Library: Appointments available from Monday 15th September
Appointments are available from September through to October so don't worry if there are no available appointments on your first few days. You do not need an ID card as soon as you arrive on campus.
School of the Arts (STA) Undergraduate Welcome Events
Welcome Week begins on Monday 15 September but most School of the Arts events will take place on Tuesday 16 September. You’ll have your School Induction, a Transitioning to University Study session, and a School of the Arts Undergraduate social on Tuesday, followed by a variety of other programme-level activities across the week. These activities will introduce you to your programme, your fellow students, and give you an overview of the services available to support you during your time at QMUL.
Please find your STA Welcome Week Information page here.
Be sure to have a read through the different sections of the Welcome Week Information page, paying particular attention to the ‘Things to do before Welcome Week’, ‘Undergraduate Welcome Week Schedule’, ‘Reading Lists for Undergraduate Students’, and ‘Courses to Complete Online’ sections.
Students taking a Modern Languages programme will want to make sure they complete the appropriate ‘Language Diagnostic Test’, and should have been contacted separately by the Education Team.
Your STA Advisor
Your Advisor is responsible for supervising your academic progress and providing pastoral support. We’ll be letting you know who this is during Welcome Week, so please keep an eye on your QMUL emails. You will have opportunities to meet your Advisor during the coming weeks, and they will be in touch about their drop-in hours and how to book them.
School of the Arts (STA) Reception
The School of the Arts (STA) Professional Services Team will also be on hand to offer help and support to you during your time at Queen Mary. You can find us at the STA Reception based on the first floor of the ArtsOne Building. We’re open from 10am - 4pm from Monday – Friday.
