Phase 3: Research

The final phase of the programme is the research component – your dissertation.

In this part of the programme you will undertake an independent research project, based upon the research proposal you developed in Research II in your placement year.

Although you will be working independently, you will not be working alone. You will have a dedicated research supervisor who will guide, advise and support you throughout the research and writing process.

Research can be a challenging experience, but it can also be very rewarding. For some of you, this might be the first step on a journey to becoming a medical researcher or academic. For others, it might simply be a way to develop valuable skills which you will be able to apply to the development of your own clinical practice. Whatever journey you have in mind, know that you will be supported each step of the way.
