Phase 2: Coursework and Placement
Completion requirements
In Phase 2 of the programme, you will undertake a clinical placement within the NHS.
During your placement, you will be able to further develop your clinical skills and receive advanced and expert training in your area of specialisation. This phase of the programme must be undertaken full-time, on location in the UK. You will require GMC registration before commencing your placement.
Alongside your placement, you will undertake three coursework modules. Each of these modules is designed to guide you through a particular activity or task related to your placement:
- Applied Research I – in this module, you will undertake an evaluation, in the form of an audit, service evaluation or quality improvement project, within your placement context.
- Applied Clinical Skills – in this module, you will build upon the reflective portfolio you started in Professional Studies, through evidencing your clinical practice and preparing clinical case reports.
- Research II – in this module you will design and plan a research project that you can undertake within your disciplinary context. This will form the basis for your dissertation in the Research component of the programme.
