Update - Suspension of Medical and PA student GP placements from 16th March (informal notification)
Dear GP Tutors,
Further to my correspondence yesterday, a number of tutors have understandably been in contact with queries. It’s an evolving situation, but please see below some FAQs and answers:
Payment for suspended GP Placements
All placement and facilities payments will be honoured for suspended placements.
Have students been informed about the suspension?
Yes, all MBBS and PA students have been informed of the suspension of clinical placements.
Can students still choose to attend placements despite the suspension?
No, students must adhere to the suspension of all clinical placements and must not attend GP placements.
Placement Assessments
From Monday 16th March, adjustments will be made to assessment requirements for all students. You will notified by the end of next week regarding how this will work.

Dear GP Tutors,
We wish to thank all the practices that have contacted us regarding MBBS and PA student placements now that Coronavirus has been designated a pandemic. The University has been taking advice regarding a continuity plan for the these clinical courses.
We are writing informally to notify you that GP placements will cease from Monday 16th March until further notice (at least until after the Easter break). Official confirmation will be circulated in the next two days.
We understand that students may be offered the opportunity to volunteer in Primary Care, but we are awaiting official Department of Health guidance on this.
We are very grateful for your patience and we will endeavour to keep you informed.
