Should staff lurk in the student cafe?

Should staff lurk in the student cafe?

Dear students

In the last online course we ran, staff were not allowed in the student cafe!  I see that this course software allows staff to wander in and see what you've written to each other.  Do you need a private space to talk about your experiences without the staff present?  Maybe you don't know yet, but when you get a view on this, let me know.

Hi all. I think it's fine as there is talk of a facebook group. I'll watch the debate evolve with interest. David

I personally don't mind it. There might be a subject raised that a staff would help enlighten the students on. Also, i think knowing a staff could just be around the corner will help the students behave, i think. Something like a chaperone :-D

Hi everyone

I do believe that staff friendly student cafe could help us all to bond more effectively. I gues there are endless things we can learn a lot from staff, and staff gets to know students a bit more than just from lecture theatres.
