Welcome or welcome back to all who have just arrived this year. We are looking forward to working with you all.

We have now opened the opportunity for students wishing to apply for the position of SBM Student Ambassador for this academic year (2025 – 2026).

What is the job opportunity?

The School of Business and Management is keen to give its students as many opportunities as possible. We work hard to raise aspirations and expand the recruitment of students/international students who are currently under-represented in higher education. We are looking for Undergrad, Postgrad/ PhD students to help with events, as well as ad-hoc administrative jobs to help run the school sufficiently.

As a Student Ambassador, you can gain experience working at our internal and external events, such as Open Days, academic conferences, seminars, and socials. You will also work with young people on school visits, do campus tours, facilitate workshops, and more. There are also opportunities to facilitate other activities around the university.

Training will be provided, and you will gain valuable skills in planning events and creating content for our social platforms. Student Ambassadors are paid a grade 1 Spinal Point 10 wage, currently at £15.30 per hour and have shift opportunities on an ad-hoc basis.

You will need to complete the 3 steps below and submit the relevant documents to sbm-comms@qmul.ac.uk.

Application Submission  

  1.           Complete the Student Ambassador Application form via the link
  2.          Submit a 1-minute video to (sbm-comms@qmul.ac.uk) explaining the following:

 

Your role as a student ambassador is to represent and sell the experience at Queen Mary to prospective students. In a 1-minute video, tell us why you chose Queen Mary and what makes you different? Include:

·       Introduction to yourself - Name / Course / Year

·       What relevant experience you have in relation to the person specification

·       What makes you different? What’s your X factor?

NOTE: Show us your creativity! If you find that the video is too large to submit via email, please send via Teams or a Wetransfer link to Nicole Ramdeen. You will need to state that this is what you have done in your email. You must grant the required access to your video.

 

               3. You will also need to submit a short paragraph (no more than 250 words) on either one of the following questions, explaining a time when:

·       you had to take on a leadership role you hadn’t been fully trained for.

·       you faced a challenging situation at work

·       you endured the biggest change you’ve had to deal with? How did you adapt to that change?

·       What’s the most interesting thing about you that’s not on your CV/resume?

Deadline

All submissions must be sent by Monday 6 October 2025, at 16:00. Submissions received after this time will not be included in the shortlisting.

Successful applications will be notified by Monday, 13 October 2025, and invited for an in-person interview shortly after. The interviews will be w/c 20th October 2025, usually on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Details will be sent to those selected.
