Raman system upgrade completed

Dear All,

I'm happy to report that the Raman system upgrade has now been completed successfully and the system is available for users.

Please note the following changes to the options available in the system control software (WiRE):

  1. There is now 532nm option available in the system calibration and measurements menu. Hence, to calibrate the system at 532nm please choose the corresponding calibration file.
  2. Note that two grating options are available with 532nm laser: 2400 and 1200 (l/mm). The former provides high resolution, while the latter allows for a wider data range.
  3. Note that 442nm laser can only be used with 2400 grating, while 633 and 785nm lasers can only be used with 1200 grating. This has been the case before the upgrade.

The new laser is key-operated just like all other lasers on the system. Please make yourself familiar with the location of the key-operated switch points. If unsure, please contact our lab manager Dr Sam Eardley.

Best wishes

Dr Andrei Sapelkin
