I hope your first assignments have gone well; I look forward to reading them.
As you know, we'll begin our work on Ibsen's Ghosts with an introductory lecture on Thursday. This will be followed, after Study Week, by two seminars in Week 8.
Monday's session (10 March) will be a structured discussion, of the kind that you're becoming familiar with. In the Monday session, a medical ethics board will hear statements from three of the surviving protagonists, and ask questions. The briefs for each team are here. Team members are:
- Medical Ethics Board: Max, Malina
- Mrs Alving: Dorra, Cameron, Keira
- Pastor Manders: Masha, Levi, Nia
- Regine Engstrand: Aqsa, Muna, Hana
The protagonists will each have a five-minute statement to prepare. As ever, you'll have five minutes to confer as a team at the beginning of the seminar, so feel free to liaise in advance if you want to share out the preparation.
Thursday's session (13 March) will focus on two important passages from Ghosts. Details of the passages to read, and questions to guide your preparation, are here. Please work on the following material:
- Mrs Alving's conversation with Manders (Act 2): Aqsa, Nia, Cameron, Masha, Max, Levi
- Mrs Alving, Oswald, and Regine (Act 2): Keira, Malina, Hana, Dorra, Muna
