About the Mentoring Scheme

The Mentoring Scheme will provide you with access to a trainee solicitor, who will offer practical support, guidance and encouragement.

We will be offering a mentoring scheme to both Undergraduate (2nd and 3rd year) and Postgraduate Law students. Whilst the scheme is open to all the above, preference will be given to those who are yet to secure a Training Contract as the scheme will focus heavily on applying to Vacation Scheme and Training Contracts.

What We Expect:

  • Commitment: This scheme requires investment of your time and energy. We expect mentees to fully commit to the process, actively participate, and make the most of the opportunity.
  • Time Management: You'll need to balance the scheme alongside your other responsibilities. Effective time management is crucial to ensure you stay on track.
  • Communication: Open and honest communication is key. We encourage mentees to engage in regular dialogue with their mentors, ask questions, and seek advice. A call with your mentor at least once per month is advised.
  • Feedback and Constructive Criticism: Growth comes from learning, and learning often involves receiving feedback. Be prepared to take on constructive criticism, reflect on it, and use it to improve.
  • Interest in Commercial Law: DWF is a leading global provider of integrated legal and business services, therefore an interest in potentially pursuing a career in commercial law is useful, however not necessary.
