Hope you are enjoying the sun now it is finally making an appearance, and that deadlines are all under control.

 

There are a few things coming up at the moment, chief among them the SED Careers Day. We have speakers coming from publishers Hodder & Stoughton, from Camden People’s Theatre, and a journalist from The Guardian, with more still to be announced. Taking place in the afternoon of 20th May, it will be followed by a social and is a great way to celebrate assignment deadlines being over! QTaster visit to Scotiabank, Wednesday 12 June 09:30-12:30

This QTaster visit is for students interested in exploring careers in banking. Scotiabank in the UK has early career opportunities in Front Office (Global Capital Markets and Corporate & Investment Banking) and Support/Control Functions (e.g. Audit, Financial Crime, Technology, HR, Risk etc.). It also has a summer internship for students in their penultimate year (applications open in September). QTaster visit to World Resources Institute, Wednesday 12 June 10:00-13:00

WRI (World Resources Institute) is an environmental Think Tank that works globally. We will visit their London office, next to Houses of Parliament. This visit will be of special interest to students who want to explore a career in the environmental sector. We will have presentations from the Head of UK office, Food and Land Use Coalition, Global HR and Ocean Program.  There will also be a couple of interactive activities/challenges and we will finish with a networking lunch!

Felicity Bryan Mentorship Scheme - publishing

Applications close on Sunday to the Felicity Bryan Mentorship Scheme, open to anyone who wants to get into publishing. The mentorship lasts for three months (September - November 2024, so best for finalists or postgrads) and includes a range of placements.

 

Young Journalists’ Academy

Applications are also open now for the Young Journalists’ Academy, a free programme for young people to meet and interview journalists and editors, create podcasts and videos, and learn how to report live news.
