Responsibilities:
The research will focus on (1) the patentability of genome editing inventions, with particular reference to ordre public and morality exceptions, and (2) national law and procedure relating to compulsory licensing. Responsibilities will include identifying relevant legislation, analysing case law, reviewing commentaries and secondary sources, assessing patent office practice, liaising with patent office officials, and writing a short report summarising research findings. Preference will be given to applicants with prior knowledge of patent law and experience in conducting independent research.
