Welcome back to the start of the semester. There are lots of exciting things going on at the moment – read on to find out more!

 

Theatre micro-internships

QM micro-internships are currently open for applications, with a whole range of exciting opportunities with social enterprises, charities, businesses, and arts organisations. For example:

Theatre Project Research Intern - Go Live Theatre Projects

Do you have a strong interest in theatre and want to contribute towards work to make it more inclusive? Go Live Theatre Projects are looking for an intern to support them in a research project into relaxed performances to support audience members with neurodivergence, autism and disability to enjoy theatre!

You can apply for more than one micro-internship at a time (there are others available at Voice Magazine, Theatre Peckham, and Picturehouse Cinemas, among others), and get support and training from QM Careers alongside your work experience. Journalism prize now open

The Guardian Hugo Young Award for young political opinion writers is open for entries until 11th February. The Award aims to create platform and networks for young writers from underrepresented backgrounds, and is open to those who attended State School. Journalism Jobs and Skills event

For those of you interested in journalism as a future career, check out this free online event from our friends at City University in the evening of Wednesday 31st January. Open to all, you can expect to hear information and tips about the sector (and to hear about City’s postgraduate journalism courses). Publishing opportunities

Hachette are offering a number of 12 month traineeships that may be of interest to the finalists among you, with roles starting in May 2024. There are opportunities in Editorial, Publicity & Marketing, and Rights & Audio, and the deadline is 18th February. Enterprise events

The enterprise team run amazing events (including QIncubator, now open for applications: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/careers/enterprise/programmes-for-entrepreneurs/qincubator/), and have just set up a new programme: BrainPower – Embracing Neurodiversity. It will be focusing on developing the existing entrepreneurial skillset of (DDS diagnosed and undiagnosed) ADHD students, and encouraging out of the box thinking.
