How Self-Care can help reduce stress. 

 

Self-care is proven to help reduce stress. It has been scientifically proven that by focusing on yourself and caring for yourself your mental health, physical wellbeing and your overall self-image  will improve significantly. 

 

An individual's stress-levels will severely reduce when they practice self-care because they are not solely focusing on what it is that is distressing them, but they are also honing in on what makes them feel better about themselves. Additionally, by practicing self-care you are allowing your body to feel rejuvenated and by looking after yourself, mentally and physically you will feel much better. 

 

I wanted to draw your attention to a poster we have created which highlights the various ways to manage stress by incorporating self-care into your routine.  



 

I have also attached a few quotes that better explain and highlight the diverse ways to incorporate self-care into your routine when trying to deal with your stress. 

 

Self-care requires checking in with yourself and asking yourself how you’re doing physically, mentally, and emotionally.

 

Self-care does not mean the same thing for everyone. Different people will adopt different self-care practices, and even your own definition might change over time. “What is self-care for one person will likely differ from someone else, and what’s self-care for you one day might not feel like self-care another day,” Dr. Amsellem says. 

 

“Many people feel that self-care is vital to helping them deal with stress. It is a moment to take a step back from the situation and to ensure that you are okay and that you feel well. Self-care helps you deal with stress because it lets you take a moment after looking after yourself, to re-evaluate the situation that you are in.”
