One of the most important things highlighted in Charmaz paper is that Practitioners usually treat a chronic illness patient within acute care framework which can be considered a barrier in the patient-practitioner relationship exacerbating the psychological condition. Today, not all patients are given sufficient information about their disease whether is curable or not, and the possible side effects of medicine such as erectile dysfunction.

Apart from this, loss of self has been seen on Leprosy, considered one of the chronic infectious diseases which  need special attention from medical practitioner. The disease destroys not only the body, but also the soul as a result of a variety of stressors such as stigma and discrimination. Thus, psychosocial interventions need to be incorporated into routine medical care to avoid emotional turmoil which could lead to psychiatric disorder and suicide. Eventually, the leprosy suffer loses social status and becomes isolated from society, family and friends due to the adverses reactions of the community. Most of them are prohibited from participating in the social and economic activities of the community becoming fearful, withdrawn, isolated, lose self-confidence and self-respect. So, these approaches should be extended to their families which role is to comfort the patient. .
