So, it's World Diabetes Day on the 14th of November. As part of Medsin and a new project called Outside, we want to raise awareness of the issues around diabetes.
I have booked out one of the bays in the RLH and hopefully getting some nurse specialists involved too.
East London has one of the highest prevalence rates of diabetes in the country, particularly owing to the demographics of the area. We are in smack bang in the heart of it and as Global and Public health enthusiasts it would be great if we could make a difference to our local population.
The 14th is a Wednesday sooo.. no lectures that day.
You don't have to give up a whole day, a couple of hours will be perfect. We just want some students to help with talking to patients and passersby about diabetes.
We might get some blood glucose machines and BP machines too.
