Dear all,

Please see below a reminder of tomorrow’s online IPHS seminar.

Institute of Population Health Sciences (IPHS) Online Seminar

Wednesday 3rd February 2021, 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Title: What have we learned from the ONS Coronavirus Infection Survey about infection rates, immunity, the new variant?

Discussants: Koen Pouwels, Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford

Summary: The ONS Coronavirus Infection Survey was set up end of April 2020 to track infection rates, antibodies and address several other questions related to the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The study is design as a dynamic household survey with longitidunal follow-up and as of 18 January almost 2.5 million swab positivity results and approximately 100,000 antibody tests. In this seminar I'll discuss some of the main results from the study - and other studies - with a focus on providing representative estimates of PCR positivity in near-realtime, changes in risk factors over time, emerging evidence around relative transmissability the new B.1.1.7/VOC202012/01 variant and the extent to which antibodies protect against new infection.

All are welcome!

This seminar will be held on MSTeams, please join using the link below.

Best wishes,

IPHS Seminar Committee (Borislava Mihaylova, Anna De Simoni, Anna Dowrick, Stamatina Iliodromiti, Nikolina Jovanovic, Heather McMullen, Charlotte Edwards Roscamp (administrator))
