BBC WORK EXPERIENCE - DEADLINE IS 29 NOVEMBER

The BBC offer work experience opportunities 3-4 times a year, and are now accepting applications across a number of areas.  Below are links to some of the opportunities in London, but there are lots more across the UK, particularly in Salford.  So you need to investigate the website as a whole.

30/11/2017 – How to submit a great job application - with Teach First

This skills session will focus on our application process - with a particular emphasis on the situational judgement test (SJT). These skills can be transferable across many employers as an SJT is becoming more and more popular as a selection method.

***This is a great opportunity, even if you are not applying to Teach First as many employers including the Civil Service, KPMG etc, include SJTs as part of their application process***

5/12/2017 - Careers in Parliament, Think Tanks & Communications

This event brings together professionals from three different industries to discuss their careers, the opportunities available in the sector, and the challenges they have met.
Speakers:

Gavin Freeguard leads the Institute of Government's (a leading think tank) work on data and transparency, including their Whitehall Monitor project. He has also worked on government contracting, preparing politicians for government and digital government.  Gavin was previously political adviser on culture, media and sport to Harriet Harman MP and, before that, deputy director of the Orwell Prize and senior researcher at the Media Standards Trust. He holds an undergraduate degree in Modern History and Politics from the University of Oxford (2007) and a Masters degree in the History of Political Thought and Intellectual History from Queen Mary/UCL (2012).

Tiffany Trenner-Lyle is a Consultant at Jefferson Communications. Before that, she worked in Parliament for a Government Minister and worked at Conservative HQ. She has four years’ experience as a freelance political researcher for the editor of The Spectator, having work also published in the The Telegraph. Tiffany has a first-class degree in Politics from the University of Nottingham, where she was a research assistant to a professor working on Parliamentary rebellions and contributing to several published academic works.

Karin Wasteson is a Freelance Journalist and Founder & Director of Blue Iris Capital Ltd with a six-­year track record of interviewing global business leaders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, politicians, celebrities, world renowned experts and artists.
