Generation Development is recruiting volunteers for its London based steering group: www.generationdevelopment.org

Generation Development is a new and innovative youth led, youth driven and youth focused international development organisation. Our vision is a world where global leaders listen to the voices of young people, and where young people can shape the future of international development policy. Our aim is to bring together young leaders and youth organisations in the global north and global south in partnership to discuss and form policy on the future of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) post-2015. Specifically, we are working to consult young people from many different cultures about their priorities for the post-2015 international development agenda, capturing views both online (via a multi-lingual public forum) and offline (via trained teams of young local facilitators). Generation Development currently consists of 26 youth leaders and 20 partner organisations from 16 different countries around the world, twelve of which are based in low and middle-income economies. A small team of young professionals in London coordinate our work on a voluntary basis. All of Generation Development’s members and partners are under 30 years old.

We are looking to recruit a couple of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to become part of our London based Steering Group. Our work has expanded significantly over the last few months and we are looking to increase our central team both in terms of size and expertise. The roles are flexible, but will include experience in: policy development, editorial, blog writing, social media management, partnership building, grant writing and fundraising. We hold regular roundtable meetings with senior UK based policy-makers (UNICEF, DfID, Restless Development, Raleigh International, BMA and many others) and are increasing our presence overseas with our partner organizations (we currently have a radio show on Radio XYZ in Ghana, are developing a training programme for youth leaders in Nigeria and are delivering an international training programme for lawyers between the USA and Morocco for example). The estimated time commitment is one evening meeting per month, plus 4 – 8 hours of your own time, however this is flexible depending on how involved you would like to be.
