1. Planning Your Route

Q. How should I let you know which units I’m using toward my qualification?

A. You can do this in a drop-in session or by emailing profdev@qmul.ac.uk or contacting a member of the team on 020 7882 2800/7.

Q. I’ve completed the units I needed for the award and passed the assignments, so now I want to work toward the certificate. What should I do?

A. You will just need to register for the certificate at a drop-in session (or by phone/email if you have already had your pass checked by a member of the team when you registered for the  award) and then select the units you want to take ensuring that the total credits you have achieved whilst working for the award and certificate add up to at least 13.

Q. How should I choose which courses to do?

A. The best way to do this is to view the list of courses on our leaflet ILM Qualifications in Leadership and Management Overview 2014-15 which can be found in the programme area on QMplus and to identify the courses that cover skills or knowledge your current role or future role is likely to involve over the coming year. Then from that list, you should evaluate whether you feel completely confident in your skills in each course, moderately confident or lacking in confidence. The ones where you are lacking in confidence are those you should book to attend as a priority and those you have moderate confidence in can be used optionally to gain extra credits if you find you are slightly short of the number of credits you require to achieve a qualification. Do come to one of our drop-in sessions for as face-to-face discussion if you’d prefer. These are listed at the start of each month in the programme area on QMplus.

Q. I didn’t choose my courses when I registered but now I have. What do I need to do?

A. Just email profdev@qmul.ac.uk or attend a drop-in session to let us know the following:

  • The courses you will be taking
  • The dates you plan to complete the assignments for each

Q. I’ve finished my award and now I want to work toward a certificate. What do I need to do?

A. The good news is that the credits you have achieved for your award can also be used toward your certificate, so you won’t be starting from scratch, e.g. if you got a level 5 award by completing two three-credit units, you only need to gain seven more credits to achieve the thirteen credits required for a certificate.

You can also register without having to come to show your ID as we will already have seen it for your award, so email profdev@qmul.ac.uk if you would like an application form sent to you to complete remotely, but if you feel it would be useful to discuss your unit choices with us, come to one of our drop-in sessions for a face-to-face discussion. These are listed at the start of each month in the programme area on QMplus
