Welcome to Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems! This module will give you a thorough understanding of the importance of energy storage in the field of Sustainable Energy Engineering and provide you with an advanced understanding of key processes in the area of electrochemical storage such as batteries and supercapacitors. The module will also address fundamental aspects of electrochemistry associated with energy storage devices and introduce the concepts of hydrogen economy, storage and utilisation. The module will look into the challenges of scaling up batteries to packs. It will be delivered through a series of lectures, as well as lab sessions and case problems.
