All UG SEF students have the opportunity to study abroad during their time at QM. Read below for more information on the study abroad programmes available to SEF students:
Please note: all study abroad exchanges/mobility programmes are organised and managed directly via the Global Opportunities team.
Before you start to apply, please make sure you follow the instructions/tips below:
- Read the Global Opportunities' outbound student website thoroughly for the exchange programme/s in which you are interested. In particular, research and learn more about where you want to go by consulting the "Where can I go?" sections contained in the webpage linked above. Please note that destinations are not the same for all Schools, so make sure you check on the website what is available for the School of Economics and Finance.
- Read the guidance contained on the pages below and on the QM+ page (GO Abroad, Student Information and Resources): this page is managed by the Global Opportunities Team and contains tips and info on all things studying abroad (incl. the application process).
As a reminder:
You need to maintain a weighted average grade of 60.0 over all developmental years with no failed modules (from year 1 and onwards, including year preceding exchange) in order to be eligible to participate in any Outbound Student Exchange Programmes. If you do not meet these conditions, please don’t apply.
- 'With a Year Abroad' programme: at least 25% of the modules you take at your exchange destination needs to be relevant to your degree course. This also means we won’t allow you to take more than that so that you don’t repeat modules. Please take this into account when selecting your destinations.
- Optional semester-abroad programme: the modules you take at your exchange destination must match the modules you would take at QM. Please take this into account when selecting your destinations.
- If you’re on a joint-degree course managed by a School other than the School of Economics and Finance you should contact your home School to find out what options you have as the above won’t necessary apply to you (especially destinations).
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Placement & Study Abroad Manager (n.hamedi@qmul.ac.uk) or the Global Opportunities Office (goabroad@qmul.ac.uk)
