Timetable
You can view your personalised timetable by clicking on the My Timetable link in QMplus or in the QMUL app. Please check this regularly as it may change.
Your timetable should also be available on the central Timetabling website. If you are unsure of how to access this, you can find instructions here.
Your modules
For each module you’ll have weekly online content to work through at your own pace (e.g. videos, readings, exercises, and discussions) posted on your modules' QM+ pages, alongside your scheduled timetabled activities.
A typical module will be delivered as follows:
- Lectures:
- 2-hour weekly lecture which will be delivered by the module organiser on campus. The lecture delivery will last at least 90 minutes depending on the duration of the online material for that week, and the rest of time will be available to answer student questions. The lecture will be recorded and will be made available on QMplus within a few days of the lecture taking place and well before any related assessment. Lectures will provide you with a weekly opportunity to meet with your peers taking the module and to discuss, ask questions, and explore the learning material in more depth.
- Approximately 30 minutes of online activities per week posted on the QMPlus page of each module.
- Classes:
- Small 1-hour group classes delivered by the teaching assistants or the lecturers, beginning in teaching week 2 of each semester.
Some final year modules are delivered as a 3-hour combined lecture and seminar activity.
Attendance
Attendance at lectures and classes is compulsory and a record of attendance is taken at every lecture and class in all modules. We will be monitoring your attendance to see if you need any support to engage with your studies.
If you are unable to attend your allocated class due to circumstances beyond your control (such as illness), you may, as a one-off, attend an alternative class that week. For future weeks, you must attend the allocated class on your timetable.
Timetable Change Requests
During teaching week 1 of each semester, you will be allocated to a small class of students for each module.
The procedure for submitting a timetable change request is as follows:
Option 1: Direct Swap with Another Student (Strongly Recommended)
We strongly recommend arranging a direct swap with another student enrolled in the same module. Timetable change requests which are direct swaps are guranteed to be processed. To help you with this:
- There is a discussion forum on the QMplus area for each module where you can discuss potential swaps
- You can check the timetable for any module on the website . Go to ‘modules’ then search by code.
- A spreadsheet of the current class allocations is below. This will be made available by the start of the teaching semester.
Option 2: Timetable Change Request Without a Direct Swap
You may also submit a timetable change request without arranging a direct swap, but please note:
- These requests are not guaranteed.
- Changes will only be made where there is sufficient capacity to do so.
- We strongly encourage you to provide alternative class options (reserve choices) in case your first choice is not available.
- If your request cannot be fulfilled, you’ll be advised to arrange a direct swap instead.
Do not assume your change is approved until you receive a confirmation email sent to your QMUL email account. This may take up to 5 working days during peak periods.
Please use this online form to submit your timetable change request. The deadline is 16:30 on Monday 6 October. No swaps will be made after this deadline.
If you are submitting a direct swap with another student , BOTH students must complete and submit the form by the deadline.
