This module focuses on one of the most influential movements in the history of cinema, the French New Wave. Foregrounding the ways in which New Wave cinema can be seen to reflect broader changes in French society and culture in the period 1958-1964, the module will also consider how contemporary developments in areas like technology, film financing and film theory impacted upon New Wave aesthetics.
