Pre-enrolment requirements

If you are successful in your application to study the DClin programme, there are a number of other tasks you will need to complete.

You will be contacted by the relevant team when these tasks are required.

Criminal record and prior conduct checks

For international students that have elected to study on-campus in Phase 1, Queen Mary will support you with your DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. DBS is a criminal record check used to assess suitability of candidates working with vulnerable groups such as children or adults.

Candidates will need to provide a certificate of good conduct if they have been a resident outside of the UK for 12 months or more in the 5 years prior to the start of the programme, this may also be known as a certificate of good standing / criminal record disclosure / police clearance certificate in overseas countries.

Health questionnaire

The purpose of the Health Questionnaire is to gather information about your health and fitness to train.  The questionnaire seeks information about your physical and mental health. All information disclosed is confidential between you and the Occupational Health team (OH). Please note, should responses indicate health issues impact significantly on the ability to take on the medical student and doctor roles and responsibilities, in exceptional cases, this could result in the withdrawal or non-issue of an offer. Applicants will be asked to disclose whether they have been treated for past illness and the OH may seek further information on this. Applicants who fail to meet the deadline for submitting their completed health questionnaire will be rejected even if they have fulfilled the academic conditions of their offers.

Vaccinations

All medical students are expected to be vaccinated against hepatitis B and tuberculosis to protect both themselves and their patients. This must be undertaken prior to placements or by the OH team. Applicants who are known carriers of a blood-borne virus (BBV) should contact the OHS for further advice. All medical students are offered BBV testing on entry to medical school.

Fee deposit

Please note offer holders will not be permitted to proceed to enrolment until payment or alternative evidence of payment (e.g. sponsorship or scholarship letter) has been received.
