TASK 2: POLYNOMIALS, FACTORISATION and remainder THEOREMs [2hr]

Factor theorem

[optional] Step 0. Watch the video on this webpage on Factor theorem application to cubics (polynomials of 3rd degree) http://www.mathtutor.ac.uk/algebra/cubicequations/video

Step 1. Go through Mathematics B workbook - Chapter 2: Section 2.5  and attempt Worked Examples 2.12 and 2.13.

Step 2. Polynomial division

Watch this video:

And go through Mathematics B workbook - Chapter 2: Section 2.6 and attempt all the Worked Examples from Mathematics B workbook - Chapter 2: Sections 2.6. until page 37 yourself.

Step 3. Remainder theorem

 Watch the video:

And go through Mathematics B workbook - Chapter 2: Section 2.6 and attempt all the Worked Examples from Mathematics B workbook - Chapter 2: Sections 2.6. from page 37 onwards.

Step 4. Check the solutions in Mathematics B workbook - Chapter 2 solutions, Sections 2.5 - 2.6.

Step 5. You can find more information in [J. Olive Survival guide, Chapter 2, Section 2E] or [Bostock,Chandler Core Maths, Chapter 1, Ex 1J,K,L,M; Chapter 3 (p38) Ex 3F; Chapter 30 (p369-371) Ex 30 G].
