PebblePad Training - Year 4
PebblePad Training – MBBS Year 4
1. Welcome!
Welcome! This page will show you how to use PebblePad, our e-portfolio platform. Below you will find some text and videos that will show you how to use this system during your placements and throughout the academic year.
Students are expected to complete this page by the start of their placements. Completing this section should take you around 30 minutes.
2. Logging into PebblePad
You can access PebblePad using this link and ticking the “I have an IT account at this organisation” option: https://v3.pebblepad.co.uk/login/qmul
Your PebblePad account is synchronised to your QMUL credentials, so you can login using your regular QMUL username and password.
3. What is PebblePad and how is it structured?
PebblePad is structured into three main components:
- Pebble+ -the learning space
- ATLAS -the assessment space
- PebblePocket -PebblePad’s mobile app
In this section, you will learn how to navigate them.
4. Resources and Assets
In this section, we will explore the difference between a Resource and an Asset.
5. The MBBS Year 4 Portfolio
This video will provide an overview of the MBBS Year 4 Portfolio. It will show you how is it structured and where to find the key sections and information.
6. Completing a form using a web browser
Sometimes you will complete a form directly on a web browser -eg., using a computer. This video will show you how to do this.
7. PebblePocket
This section will show you how to complete a form using PebblePocket, PebblePad’s mobile app. For this year, you will have three main PebblePocket tabs:
- Common Forms
- Placement Assessment
8. Attaching forms to the portfolio
As you know, it is not enough with completing the forms. These need to be manually mapped to your portfolio. Otherwise, they will remain in your private library. This video outlines this process.
9. Auto-submitting the portfolio
This video will explain the concept of auto-submissions and live links.
Remember that your portfolio will be automatically submitted when you save it for the first time. Do not worry, as PebblePad works with live links and all changes saved before the communicated deadline will be reflected in the submission.
10. Manually submitting assessment forms to ATLAS
Some forms, such as the midway reviews and end of placement assessments, need to be manually submitted to ATLAS. This video outlines this process.
11. The GMC Outcomes Portfolio
Additional to your year's portfolio, throughout the MBBS programme you will have access to the GMC Outcomes Portfolio. This portfolio offers you an opportunity to map evidence for the different outcomes and skills, and is intended as a learning experience.
Engaging with the portfolio requires the same steps as any other PebblePad workbook.
Please take note of the following points:
- There are no bespoke forms for this portfolio. Instead, students are expected to attach forms that they complete throughout their placements and other pieces of evidence.
- Students will have access to the same GMC portfolio throughout the MBBS programme. If you have already engaged with it, your evidence will remain there.
Students are not expected to fully complete it by the end of the academic year. Instead, some engagement is expected as a learning experience.
