A buddy system is an onboarding and knowledge sharing method used to orient new starters. It involves assigning them to a subject buddy. The buddy is an existing student who guides the new student  through the first few weeks or months in the university.  The buddy system should also encourage the new student to share tips, tools, knowledge, and techniques they learned from their study experiences. The knowledge sharing goal is to incorporate new ideas and technologies that enhance the student’s learning and experience. Finally, a course buddy gives the new student an opportunity to offer feedback about how the onboarding process is going.
