Welcome to this section on how to get the best from this career planning micro-module

This micro-module is designed around four core topics to develop your career planning and career development skills:

  • Global Employment Trends and Opportunities
  • Career Planning and Decision Making
  • Developing Future-Facing Graduate Competencies
  • Effective Self-Presentation and Career Narratives

Each topic has resources and activities targeted to improve your career thinking, market awareness, job-hunting skills and so improve your graduate career success. The more activities you engage with, the more you will get out of the course. We encourage you to spend 6-12 hours spread over 6-8 weeks working through the materials and activities, although you are free to set your own pace.

To encourage you to explore and get the benefit of all four topics, completion of this module will be recognised by accreditation on the Higher Education Achievement Record (HEAR), which will then appear on your transcript when you graduate. You will find these completion requirements in each of the core topics and at the end of the micro-module. The final assessment includes a requirement to undertake some careers learning through undertaking at least one hour of Career Conversation such as informational interviews with people working in your preferred professional sector and one or more appointments with the Careers and Enterprise team at Queen Mary University of London.

We have developed this course drawing on the experience and expertise of the University of London alumni,  graduate recruiters and career experts. Look out for their advice and top tips as you navigate the course.

Enjoy the course and exploring your possible career futures - Your first step is to complete the quick survey in this topic which rates your Current Career Confidence and Knowledge levels.
