Hospital Accident and Emergency (A and E) departments

Hospital Accident and Emergency departments deal with mental health crises as well as physical health emergencies.  If you don't need an ambulance, you can simply travel to any A and E department for help in a mental heath crisis, where you might be at risk of harming yourself or others.

The Royal London Hospital at Whitechapel is the nearest A and E to the Mile End campus.  You can search for other A and E departments nearest to your location here.   Not sure if you need A and E Call 111 the NHS non-emergency number

Your GP / doctor

If you’ve noticed changes in the way you’re thinking or feeling over the past few weeks or months that concern you and cause you distress, you should consider going to see your doctor. Emergency appointments are often available on the same day - call your GP surgery for more information.

Here is a guide on how to talk to your GP about mental health: www.mentalhealth.org.uk/publications/gp-visit-guide/
