What do we mean by the term "Practical Support Assistant"?

Practical Support asssitance involves the most straight forward work that we offer through the Disability and Dyslexia Service. Essentially, it means supporting a disabled student as they move around campus.

This form of support was formerly known as 'campus support' and used to be referred to as mobility assistance, general support, buddy support and orientation.

This form of support will fall into one of two main categories: supporting a physically disabled student, e.g. pushing a wheelchair, or supporting a blind student by guiding them around campus.
