Layout of notes
Completion requirements
The layout of both handwritten and typed notes can be enhanced by using different headings; for example
Indented
Underlined
IN UPPERCASE
Boxed or bolded
If you wanted to be really creative, you could try using some of the text effects in Word although please check with the student you are supporting first.
If content is delivered in lists, consider using of the following ways of listing the information
- Plain bullets
- Numbered
- Roman numerals
Some students may ask you to take more diagrammatic notes.
As a general rule of thumb, do not radically change anything about the way you take notes without consulting with your student first. If in doubt, ask a member of the Disability and Dyslexia Service.
