In this area you'll find everything you need to get started at QMUL and prepare for your studies within the School of Economics and Finance.
Each Programme has it's own Welcome Week schedule, including a programme-specific Welcome Talk that gives you the opportunity to meet your Programme Director and learn more about your course.

What to do in your first week
- Complete enrolment
- Set-up your IT accounts
- Check your Welcome Week timetable and attend sessions
- Collect your student ID card
- Attend a QMplus Induction talk to learn about the VLE and our learning technologies
- Complete the Consent Matters module
- Register with the Student Health Service
- Join Welcome Week events and activities
- Attend the Wellbeing Fair
- Get to know your Academic Advisor: Attend your meeting with your Academic Advisor, get to know them, and find out how they can support you throughout your studies.
- Attend all School Welcome Week sessions: Take part in the sessions organised by the School to learn more about your programme of study, discover extracurricular opportunities, and hear valuable insights and experiences from our alumni.

What to do in your second week
- Check your timetable: Make sure you know when and where your lectures and seminars are taking place.
- Attend all your scheduled lectures and classes (after teaching week 2): Get into a good routine early and make attendance a priority.
- Explore the QMplus pages of your modules: Familiarise yourself with your module pages, learning materials, reading lists and assessment information.
- Review your module information Make sure you understand what you will be studying and how each module will be assessed.
- Note important deadlines: Add assignment deadlines, assessments and key academic dates to your calendar.
- Check your university email every day: Important updates from your School, lecturers and the University will be sent to your university email.
- Start your reading and preparation: Keep up with the recommended reading and complete any activities before your classes.
- Explore the Library and study resources: Learn how to access books, journals, databases and other resources you will need for your studies.
- Get involved: Explore student societies, events and other opportunities to meet people and become part of the university community.
- Ask for help early: If you are unsure about your timetable, modules, assessments or anything else, contact your School via AskQM at https://askqm.qmul.ac.uk/s/
