Information on how and why marks are awarded for assessment, and on the meaning of these marks (particularly on the A-F grade scale, and how this relates to final module marks).
The 2017/8 Assessment Handbook states that students of the College have a right to high quality assessment and feedback, which [a] meets their needs as learners, [b] the College’s obligations and responsibilities to treat them all fairly and equitably and [c] ensures the maintenance of academic standards.
Please include information on what feedback students can expect and how it will be communicated to them. Section to include:
An explanation of what feedback is, and how it fits into teaching and learning. The explanation should outline what a student can expect from staff, but also the responsibility a student has for reflecting on the feedback they receive and using it to inform their studies, and the expectation that the student be proactive in seeking (further) feedback if necessary, making it clear who they might seek it from
An indication of the types of / mechanisms for providing feedback used in the School/Institute
Include a statement on typical marking turnaround times and mechanisms for students to raise concerns if turnaround times are not met. Please include name/role of relevant contact
Students can now log in to MySIS to view their marks for assessments on line. Recommended text:
To view your marks for assessment, log-in to MySIS (your personal area of SIS) with your usual computer log-in, where they will be listed. These are marks are provisional and subject to changeuntil they are agreed by the appropriate subject examination board. MySIS will indicate whether the results are provisional or confirmed.
