3.1 How do data and evidence guide medical practice?
What does it mean to practice evidence-based medicine?
In this topic we will begin to explore how research and other data might influence our practice. We will investigate the different types of evidence that might inform our practice and how these are evaluated and weighted. We will look at how clinical guidelines and best practice recommendations are developed, and we will consider how you might begin to collect your own evidence to inform practice within your context or department.
Watch the video below, in which Prof. Druce discusses the importance of evidence-based medicine, and how she ensures her own clinical practice is aligned with and informed by evidence and best practice guidelines.
