Dear Students,

Great to see you back this month, or welcome if you're new to QMUL.

I hope you had a great summer break and are looking forward to the new academic year of 2025-2026.

There's a host of events, workshops, and career sessions on offer. Visit our QMUL careers website

As a starting point, my advice is to pace yourself this term, and try not to do everything all at once alongside your studies. Consider choosing 2 or 3 events to join and book a careers chat for before the end of 2025, even if you are unsure about how your degree links to the world of work or further study, we can help you explore.

Visit QMUL's careers and enterprise page

Here’s some of the programmes and events on offer:-

We have a new Women’s Personal Development Programme, starting on 21st October. ‘Accelerate’ is a 6-week personal development programme designed to address the study, personal and professional development issues likely to be faced by women at university. Find out how to apply or join our *Accelerate Information Session, 30th September, 1-1:45pm

*Career Essentials 25/26: Career Overwhelm-Practical steps to move forward in your career decisions, 2nd October, 1:05-2pm

Making career decisions can feel overwhelming, especially in today's world where career paths are complex. This session is designed to offer you practical support in knowing how to approach your career choices.

*Career Essentials 25/26: Securing work experience during your studies, 6th October, 1:05-2pm

In this workshop we'll walk you through your options and answer any questions you have about internships, part-time work and other options for work.

*Career Conversations: How can I weigh up my options for my next steps after university?, 8th October, 1-2pm

Join this session if you are confused or concerned about the direction to take after completing your studies.  Take some time to consider all the possibilities: ranging from graduate schemes, medical training programmes, entry-level jobs, internships, further study, going freelance, gap year, travel, volunteering, or something entirely different?

Finally, if you are looking for different ways to build up your work experience whilst at Queen Mary, Aspire - Queen Mary’s career development programme, consisting of work experience opportunities designed for the different stages of your career journey.

Launch event coming up, where you can explore six Aspire schemes – including internships, mentoring, consultancy projects, and enterprise challenges.
8th October. Sign up today.

You can book a careers appointment and view all our events on the Careers Hub log in.

Hope to see you soon and have a great start to the term.
