Dear all,

The application process to live at Griffin House is still open to all BL medical and dental students who have at least 2 years of study remaining. A reminder message was sent out via the BL bulletin recently with an error with regards to the application deadline which is NOT 27th February 2015! You still have until 27th March 2015 to apply. If you are interested, please email us at students@griffincommunitytrust.org and we will add you to the applicant’s facebook page where you will be able to ask questions and sign up to visit Griffin House. Below is a copy of the message we initially sent out explaining what the Griffin Community Trust is about...

'Are you one of many students who is fed up with forking out a large sum of your student loan on rent? Well the Griffin Community Trust offers Medical and Dental students at Barts and the London extremely cheap accommodation (£78 per week including all bills) at Griffin House (15 minute bike ride/bus ride to Whitechapel) and applications are now being accepted.

Sounds a bit too good to be true? Well, the charity subsidises your rent in exchange for being part of a very unique befriending scheme that aims to reduce loneliness and social deprivation in the elderly population of Tower Hamlets. Each Griffin student befriends an elderly resident of Shaftsbury Lodge, which is in close proximity to Griffin House, where you'll spend an hour a week simply having a chat over a cup of tea/coffee. As griffin students, we also organise out-events such as Afternoon Tea at the Dorchester, Musicals and Christmas meals at the Marriott as well as in-events such as bingo and films nights.

If you're interested in being able to spend more of your student loan on anything other than extortionate rent and bills, then its worth applying for! Further information as well as our application form can be found at http://www.griffincommunitytrust.org'

Kind Regards,

Kieran and Bekah
