Dear students,
I hope you had a good weekend.
It was great to see you last Thursday and to discuss together the issues surrounding the fragmentation of international energy law.
This week we will continue examining the failed attempt by the ILC to codify the law on common offshore oil and gas deposits as well as discuss the draft articles on the law of transboundary aquifers. We will then begin analysing the first type of bilateral energy agreement: joint development agreements.
You can find the Handout and the Materials on QMPlus under Week 3. Please make sure that you complete the readings ahead of the lecture as the in-class discussion will be based on them.
Finally, for those who asked me to refer them to a good monograph on the basics of international law, I recommend Malcolm Evans, International Law (6th ed) (Oxford: OUP 2024) which is available online through the QMUL library:
I look forward to seeing you on Thursday.
Have a great start to the week
Best wishes,
Tibisay
