Dear Students,
QM Library is looking to develop its materials for supporting new student transition through the Get Ahead programme. Research shows the first year of university to be the most challenging for students and we would like to have resources and materials in place to support students conquer their first year smoothly.
Are you willing to share your experiences about what you found to be challenging in first year and whether these resources could have helped? And if not, share what could have been helpful to have access to?
Requirements:
You will need to attend one, one-hour focus group with a group of your peers, led by higher year students and a member of Queen Mary staff. You will be able to choose a time that works best for you from the below:
· Tuesday, 21st May, 11am – 12pm (in person)
· Tuesday 28th May, 11am – 12pm (in person)
· Friday 17th May 11am – 12pm (online)
· Friday 31st May, 11am – 12pm (online)
Carry out 45 minutes preparatory work, including preparing 5 top things you wish you’d known when starting university. You will also be invited to record this as content too. Further information will follow on this step shortly.
What’s in it for me?
You will get the chance to share your voice and discuss what's needed for successful student transition with other like-minded students from across the university. This in turn will help you to reflect on your own approach to studying and university success.
As a thank you for your participation, you will be offered a £20 gift voucher. In person sessions will also have lunch included. If you are an existing PASS mentor, this will also count towards your total HEAR hours too.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please fill out this form: https://forms.office.com/e/UpiZy92Ub8. Registration will need to be completed by 16th May 2023.
