This is to confirm that you can now access the grades and feedback for your second Gender and Politics assignment.
If you have any questions about this assignment or your third essay, Meena, Miranda and I are available via email or for an online meeting.
Meena has also kindly agreed to share a very helpful document with some essential essay guidance (see attachment). Please have a look and also use the following checklist before you submit your paper.
1) Have you addressed the task and followed “instructions” on QMPlus?
- Attached the UG cover sheet and completed the self-assessment?
- Used at least three sources from the module’s reading list (core/additional/supplementary)? N.B. This does not guarantee a high grade, but it is a requirement of the task.
- Carried out additional research?
- Used an empirical example/case study to expand on the theory, if explicitly required in the wording of the question?
- Stayed within the maximum word count (2000 words)?
- Correctly referenced your sources and listed these in the bibliography using the Harvard style?
2) Is the material used in the bibliography relevant and of high quality?
3) Is there a clear argument/claim/thesis statement and does this critically engage with the relevant debates in the field?
4) Is the essay structure/plan coherent, developing the argument persuasively? Is the content introduced and organised in a logical way? (please check transitions and signpositing)
5) Does the essay demonstrate a good/sound understanding and knowledge of the content reviewed in the module? (i.e. Does your engagement with the theory and/or example demonstrate a detailed and nuanced understanding of the topic?)
6) Are you going to be able to do the essay plan and/or argument justice in 2000 words? [Work on editing, less is more!]
7) Finally, what did the feedback from your first assignment suggest you work on? How have you addressed these comments in this essay?
