Male students | Have a word with yourself

We have been very concerned about the manner in which some male students have spoken to or about female students in the Institute of Dentistry.

They are sexist and misogynistic and this is unacceptable.

This is from an article in Mens Health about violence against women (https://www.menshealth.com/uk/mental-strength/a38351239/violence-against-women/):

“All domestic abuse and more widely violence against women is underpinned by a culture of misogyny,” says Teresa Parker, head of media relations and communications at Women’s Aid

“Even if you're not abusive yourself, if you’re agreeing with or not speaking up against sexist attitudes and misogynistic practices with friends or where you work, then you're creating a society and an environment that validates abusive behaviour.”

The Mayor of London has launched a campaign encouraging men to challenge their own, and their friends', sexist and misogynistic attitudes.

As well as short video, this link provides more information and I encourage all male students to have a look.

We all have a responsibility to challenge sexist and misogynistic behaviour.
