Discourse analysis is an interpretation for expression in talk or some non- verbal actions which always used in different areas. It acts as sociolinguist to build social interaction in conversations, or is concerned with nature of comprehension. The purpose of discourse analysis is to find some useful information form object’s expressions and then offers an accurate verdict.

A reference about this topic: Katrina Roen, Jonathan Scourfield, Elizabeth McDermott. Making sense of suicide: A discourse analysis of young people’s talk about suicidal subjecthood. Social Science & Medicine 67 (2008) 2089-2097.

This is a qualitative research approach to provide a detailed analysis about young people understanding suicidal behavior (how young people make sense of suicide and conceptualizes suicide). The paper offers good frameworks of understanding variously and then connection with existing literature in which were discussed and indicated the implications for suicide prevention.

It uses a discursive analysis in aspects of sociology and psychology to communicate with participants and give the implications from these investigations. Studying form this paper, I have learned about the frameworks is important that can give enlightens about how tensions may be managed by young people in their lives and the material effects of the ways in which young people make sense of suicide. I also understand how to use discourse analysis efficiently and this method’s value in diagnosis of health care.
