If you are still wondering what you will do with your History degree,  simply come along for an entertaining evening and discover opportunities for historians in a wide range of  possible careers.

If you know you are interested in a career in one or more of the sectors covered, this is a fantastic opportunity to get some insider tips on how to successfully access these roles.

Rahina Begum - Investment Banking & Asset Management Programme Co-ordinator, SEO London.  Rahina supports talented BAME/low socio-economic undergraduate students gain careers within financial services.

Zaza Rinaldi - Trade Policy Advisor, Department for International Trade. As well as a BA from QM, Zaza also has an MSc  in International Public Policy from UCL.

Re the email I sent yesterday about 'Careers in Law for Non-Law students' next Tuesday 16th October - we now have an additional guest who also studied History at QM and has just qualified as a Media/Music Lawyer... details below.  Places for this are going really fast, we have already opened 75 more places, so don't miss out...

18.00 – 18.30pm

The ‘go to’ website www.lawcareers.net will give a presentation on how you can transition from any undergraduate degree to building a career in law. 

18.30 – 19.15pm

QM Alumni will be interviewed about how they have built their early careers in law and will be sharing their insights and ‘top tips’ with you.

  • Barrister Genevieve Reed graduated in English in 2009 and has been a barrister with Red Lion Chambers for the last 4 years.
  • Trainee Solicitor Nigel Davies graduated in History in 2013 and works for Squire Patton Boggs. Whilst at QM, Nigel co-founded a ‘Law for Non-Law Students’ society.
  • Solicitor/In house Lawyer Matthew Parnell graduated in 2012 with a degree in History. He qualified as a solicitor at media and entertainment law firm Swan Turton in October 2018.  

19.15 – 19.20pm

QM current English & Film Studies student Liam Partridge will talk briefly about the work of Aspiring Solicitors, who work with over 28 law firms and legal teams to provide free events, mentoring, competitions and employability assistance, seeking to promote access to the legal profession from all sectors of society. In the past 3 years their members have achieved 1400 training contracts and internships.
